Operatives of Zamfara State Police Command on Friday, March 10, 2023, dislodged a bandits’ camp allegedly belonging to a kingpin identified as Dogo Sule, with 14 kidnap victims rescued 68 days after being in captivity.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the dislodgement was carried out in conjunction with vigilante groups while on mop-up operation at near Munhaye forest.
The victims comprised of two male adults, seven females and five toddlers.
The command’s spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, who confirmed this in a statement on Saturday, March 11, said that the rescued victims told the police of how a large number of suspected bandits,, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed Anguwar Mangoro and Gidan Maidawa villages in Gusau Local Government Area on January 1, at about 11pm, and abducted them to their camp.
According to the ppry, the victims, who were malnourished and found in an unkempt state, were taken to the Police Clinic in Gusau for medical treatment, after which they were re-united with their families.
Elated at the rescue of the kidnap victims, the state Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf, congratulated them, while he reassured on continuous commitment to protecting lives and property of the citizens.
