The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, has assured that in spite of the paucity of funds, the institution will continue to ensure that Law remains one of its flagship programmes.

The assurance was given by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Aderonke Baiyeroju, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, while receiving a team from the Council of Legal Education during a courtesy visit to his office.

Professor Baiyeroju assured the team of all necessary support to carry out its assignment successfully.

She informed the accreditation team that the University, with the support of its Law alumni, had made efforts to improve the facilities in the faculty.

The DVC charged the team to carry out its assignment for the purpose of improving the standards of Law education in Nigerian universities, adding that the University was ready to improve on any shortcomings that may be identified.

The leader of the team and Director General, Council of Legal Education, Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, said that the accreditation visit was to ensure that UI Law programme remains a father-figure of Law programmes in Nigerian Universities.

Professor Chiroma assured that the visit was to regulate the Faculty of Law and assess its facilities. He stated that the team would do its job fairly, honestly, but firmly.

Other members of the team were Mrs Elizabeth Max-Uba, Secretary to the Council of Legal Education; Mr Ibrahim Sanni Muhammed, SAN, Attorney- General of Kogi State and member of the Council of Legal Education; Mr Omo-Davidson Aluhu Alegbe, SAN, (NBA representative); Mr Akinwumi Olayinka Silas, Director, Law School Library and Mr Babatunde Salihu Bello, Director of Administration.

Also present at the occasion were two Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Messrs Mutalubi Adebayo Ojo and A.A. Olatunji, alumni of the UI Faculty of Law.
