The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of First Bank, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, has said that he would not have been where he is today without the learning he received at the University of Ibadan.

He made this statement when he paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, in his office.

The Managing Director was in UI to pay homage to the Vice-Chancellor as the Bank prepared to commission the First Bank Digital Experience Centre, University of Ibadan branch.

Dr. Adeduntan recalled that he enjoyed his experience as a student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and his extra curriculum activities through a number of student societies.

He stated that he was the Chief of Sigma Club, President of the Federation of Ibadan Students Union, and General Secretary of the Association of Veterinary Medical Students.

He said the various activities “allowed me to pass through the University while the University also passed through me.”

Dr. Adedutan remarked that he treasured the experience he had as a student, adding that the umbilical relationship that he has with the University is unbreakable.

He noted that though he has obtained other degrees, the foundation of his achievement today was actually laid in UI.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the MD/CEO of First Bank for lifting the banner of the University as a worthy alumnus.

He appreciated the recent donation of an electrical generator to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The VC informed the MD/CEO of First Bank that he has been recommended by the Planning Committee for decoration as a “UI @75 Ambassador,” adding that Dr. Adedutan will be the second personality to be so decorated after the Governor of Borno State, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum who was recently decorated as the first “UI@75 Ambassador.

On Dr. Adesola Adeduntan’s team were Dr. Tim Arowoogun, Group Head; Mr. Adekunle Amujo, Business Support Executive; Mrs. Dolapo Muyiwa- Koku, Business Manager; Dr. Opeyemi Adebola, Relationship Manager; Mr. Olumide Odunuga, Group Head General Services; Mrs. Oluwayemisi Y. Adeniran, Area General Service Manager and Dr. Gani Adeniran, a retired lecturer and former member of the Governing Council of the University.

At the commissioning of the First Bank Digital Experience Centre, University of Ibadan branch, Dr. Adedutan stated that the centre was established to allow customers to make all banking activities without the help of any banking official.

He recalled that UI branch of First Bank was among the first five branches that were opened in Nigeria in the 130 years of the bank’s existence.

He also noted that the UI branch is the second location where the bank would be rolling out its digital branch.
