In response to the growing concerns regarding security along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has implemented robust measures to enhance safety with the deployment of police operatives and security paraphernalia to the region.
This was done by the IGP in recognition of the importance of securing the critical commuting route, according to the Force spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Thursday, January 11.
In addition, the measures, the FPRO said, would leverage advanced technology and strategic resources to bolster the overall security infrastructure along the route.
The IGP, in his directive to the Deputy Inspector General in charge of operations, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, stressed on strict supervision of the personnel detailed for operations along the route.
He reiterated that the proactive step is aimed at reassuring citizens and travellers of their safety, as the increased presence of security forces in the region would force criminal activities into retreat.
“The Inspector-General of Police, while emphasising the collaboration between various security agencies and concerned communities in the region, urges the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with security personnel as the collective effort is crucial in maintaining the security and well-being of all residents and travelers.
“He assures the public that these strengthened security measures are part of an ongoing commitment to ensuring a secure and peaceful environment,” ACP Adejobi stated.
