The Corporate Communication Officer of HOGL Energy Limited (HOGL), Grace Aderemi-John, has said that the inferno which occurred at the company’s terminal at Apapa, Lagos State, on Friday, May 17, was successfully extinguished by the state Fire Service and other sympathisers promptly.
The spokeswoman, who disclosed that the fire incident experienced by the company began at 11:10am, sparked during routine maintenance of PMS cargo
pipeline.
She stated: “Thanks to the concerted efforts of our facilities unit, the Lagos State Fire Service, and local stakeholders; the fire was successfully extinguished at 1:45pm.
“We are pleased to report that operations in surrounding terminals were not affected. There was
no damage to our storage facilities, and no casualties were recorded.
“Loading operations will
resume once we receive clearance from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum
Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).”
She assured of HOGL’s commitment to the highest standards of workplace health and safety, saying that the swift resolution of the incident was a testament to rigorous safety protocols by the company and the effectiveness of oits emergency response teams.
She extended gratitude to the host community, stakeholders, and the Lagos State Fire Service
for their swift response and collaboration in combating the fire incident.
