Detectives in Delta State Police Command have begun a manhunt for one Stanley Ovemureye who allegedly murdered his six-year-old daughter, Abigail Stanley, in a gruesome manner.
Reports had it that the fleeing suspect smashed the head of his daughter several times against the wall and fled immediately he committed the criminal act.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the incident occurred on Saturday, June 15, at Uviama New Layout, Agbarho Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the killing on Sunday, June 16, said that the case was reported by the fleeing suspect’s brother.
The PPRO stated that when the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Area got the report, he promptly detailed detectives to the scene, from where they recovered the corpse of the child.
“The corpse was recovered and deposited at the mortuary. The father who is the principal suspect is currently at large.
“The Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, who is saddened by this barbaric act, has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspect.
“He has assured members of the public that the suspect will be arrested and justice will be served.
“He urged anyone with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to call the control room number on 0803684974 or report at the nearest police station,” Edafe said.
