Police operatives attached to the Obosi Divisional Headquarters in Anambra State Police Command recovered a shuttle bus with belonging to the Transport Company of Anambra State popularly known as (TRACAS) at Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area, on Saturday, May 17, few hours after it was snatched by armed men.
Thenewsbearer reports that a five-man armed gang had disguised as passengers and dispossessed the driver of N20,000 and the shuttle bus with registration number AGU 651 ZL.
Following a distress call to the Command’s control room, police operatives reportedly swung into action and alerted the necessary security checkpoints to deny the criminals access to escape.
This was said to have forced the hoodlums to abandon the vehicle at Slaughter Junction, in Nkwelle and fled through a nearby bush.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that security patrols had been intensified in the area to enhance safety and nip to the bud any untoward situation.
He added that efforts were ongoing for possible arrest of the fleeing suspects.
