The Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, on Saturday, May 17, received the prestigious Most Distinguished Ibadan Indigene (MDII) Award for his contributions to the development of Ibadan.
The award was presented by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), which is the apex body of socio-cultural clubs, societies, unions and associations of Ibadan indigenes in all spheres of life, home and abroad.
In a letter signed by its President-General, Chief Sulaiman Ajewole and Chairman, Ibadan Week Festival Planning Committee, Chief Abiola Alli, CCII had said the council was concerned and committed to the sustenance of cultural heritage and economic development of Ibadan.
CCII said the award was in recognition of Adeniran’s contributions to the growth and development of Ibadanland.
Reacting, the Nigeria Union of Teachers and the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) congratulated Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran on the award.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo state chapter, Comrade Raji Oladimeji, said that the award was well deserved, adding that it is a sign of recognition of Adeniran’s contributions to the development of basic education in Ibadan land and beyond.
Also, the Chairman of AOPSHON, Oyo State, Comrade Ilori Omoshola, congratulated Adeniran, saying the award would spur him to do more for Ibadanland.
In his remarks, Dr. Adeniran expressed gratitude to the CCII leadership and members for the honour and praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts in the basic education sub-sector.
He also commended Governor Makinde’s relentless efforts in promoting the basic education sub-sector in the state.
