The Nigerian Correctional Service has launched a manhunt for seven inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ilesa, Osun State, following the rainfall that pulled down the perimetre wall of the facility on Tuesday, May 20, at about 2a.m.
The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, has also ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer, Umar Abubakar, a Deputy Controller of Corrections, said that the Service is working closely with sister security agencies, as well as community leaders, to recapture the escapees and bring them back to custody.
The Service also solicited the cooperation and support of the public in providing information that might lead to the recapture of the fleeing inmates.
