Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu, in Anambra State Police Command, on Monday, July 7, arrested a suspected cultist, Chukwujekwu Micheal Okoye a.k.a Bus-Stop, on his link to the murder of two persons, injury to another two, and abduction of two in Oko Community, Orumba North Local Government Area early in June.

The kidnap victims were reportedly released after a payment of ransom at the Total Junction and Tipper Junction.

Thenewsbearer learnt that the operatives also recovered an automatic pump-action gun and two handsets.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect in a statement on Tuesday, July 8, the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to have robbed a victim of his handset and other valuables at gunpoint in Oko in the early hours of May 22, while he also disclosed being an active member of the Aye Confraternity Cult group in which he held the position of a lord.

The suspect stated how he and other cult members had perfected plans for the initiation ceremony and rivalry cult attack on July 7.

Okoye revealed details of how he and six other gang members attacked Oko on June 19.

The PPRO said that the operatives had activated plans for the arrest of other gang members, going by the information provided by the suspect, adding that it is aimed at dismantling the criminal network in the state.
