The Lagos State Police Command has expressed sadness over the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Festac Division, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the DPO died after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos State on Friday, October 24, 2025.
A statement by the Command’s spokeswoman, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on Saturday, October 25, partly read: “The Command mourns a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity.
“Until her passage, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty.
“Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served. At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities.”
Saying that the news of the DPO’s demise came as a rude shock to the entire Command, the PPRO stated further that the Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, and all officers and men of the Command commiserate with her family and aged mother on the irreparable loss.
CP Jimoh was said to have personally reached out to the deceased’s husband and her elder brother, who is a priest, to extend the Command’s heartfelt condolences and support during a difficult time.
SP Adebisi said that the deceased’s burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.
