Operatives of Kwara State Police Command succeeded in rescuing three victims kidnapped from Igbonla Community on Sunday, November 2.
The victims were identified as Fatima Wasiu, Kudus Wasiu, and her six months old daughter.
The police operatives are said to be making efforts to rescue the remaining two of the abducted victims whose names were given as Wasiu Salihu and Abdullahi Sefiu.
Thenewsbearer learnt that armed men gained access to a residential building shooting sporadically as they kidnapped the five victims.
However, a combined team of the police detectives, local vigilantes and hunters were quickly mobilised to the location.
The Command’s spokeswoman, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said in a statement on Tuesday, November 4: “The swift action led to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims – Fatima Wasiu, Kudus Wasiu, and her six months old daughter – unhurt, while intense efforts are in top gear to rescue the remaining two victims – Wasiu Salihu, and Abdullahi Sefiu, and arrest the perpetrators.”
The Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, in his comment on the rescue operation, called on the Kwara residents to maintain the tempo of quick intelligence reporting and information sharing.
The Commissioner of Police said the swift report of incidents would enable the Command to discharge its duties in a swift manner in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun.
