Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Delta State Police Command on Thursday , November 6, arrested a 24-year-old suspected armed robber and kidnapper, Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, found in possession of a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed in a loaf of bread.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, November 8.
According to Edafe, the operatives discovered the weapon at about 8:45a.m. while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba, following the interception of the suspect whose suspicious behaviour prompted a thorough search.
The PPRO said: “The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit, while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain his possible connection with incidents of armed robbery and kidnapping within the Asaba metropolis and adjoining communities.”
He stated further that the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the discovery as proof of the Command’s sustained intelligence-driven operations.
The police boss reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to identify, arrest, and prosecute criminal elements regardless of their tactics, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information.
He gave an assurance that all reports would be treated with confidentiality, reiterating his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Delta State.
