A Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) has been set up at the University of Ibadan by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
The Centre was inaugurated by the Country Director of WIPO, Nigeria Office, Dr Oluwatobiloba Moody, after the provision of the required materials needed for the take off at the university’s Centre for Intellectual Property Protection and Commercialisation (CIPPaC).
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, SAN, represented the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, at the inauguration of the Centre.
The University of Ibadan was among the universities that WIPO designated to host the TISC in Nigeria.
The Technology and Innovation Support Centre is dedicated to bridging innovations from mind to market, help researchers, inventors, and entrepreneurs to unlock their innovative potential and protect, manage, and create value with their Intellectual Property (IP) rights, the Directorate of Public Communication, University of Ibadan, said in statement.
TISC is designed to be easily accessible within the universities where such centres are domiciled and WIPO supports the development of the centres through training, specialised resources including platforms and tools, learning resources and publications.
It also provides opportunities for networking.
