The Adamawa State Police Command has arrestes a suspected human trafficker who allegedly specialised in luring young girls from the state to the Republic of Ghana for sexual exploitation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement on Thursday, November 13, 2025, said the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Hamza Hammantukur Isa, was arrested on 12 November 2025, by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) in Yola.
According to the spokesperson, the operation followed credible intelligence that linked Isa to a trafficking network targeting teenage girls with promises of lucrative jobs abroad.
Nguroje said two female victims, aged 18 and 19, were rescued unhurt during the operation.
He said preliminary investigations indicated that Isa had been involved in human trafficking since 2023.
”He reportedly confessed to trafficking at least 10 girls to Ghana, allegedly working alongside two female accomplices who are currently on the run,” the police spokesperson said.
Nguroje added that efforts were already underway to track down the fleeing collaborators and to locate other victims who may have been trafficked.
”Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the SID operatives for their swift response and reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting residents from criminal activities.
”He assured that the suspect would be prosecuted upon completion of investigations,” Nguroje said.
The police urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that can aid in combating human trafficking and other crimes in the state.
