Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, November 12, arrested one Musa Abubakar who is suspected to be a key arms dealer linked to armed groups in Plateau State and other parts of the northern Nigeria.
The arrest followed an intelligence received by the DSS, which led to a targeted raid on his arms manufacturing workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area of the state, the Agency disclosed on Sunday, November 16.
Recovered from him were various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals and equipment, which, Thenewsbearer learnt, had all been confiscated by DSS operatives.
According to the Agency, “the suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.”
This significant arrest came shortly after the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, a.k.a. Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee who masterminded church attacks in Owo, Ondo State, and Deeper Life Church in Kogi State.
It will be recalled that the DSS arrested a total of nine high-profile suspects involved in the Plateau and Benue attacks including Timna Manjol, aged 46, who already pleaded guilty to two of four-count charge against him, including illegal possession of firearms, in a charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
These recent operational successes recorded, according to the Agency, was its commitment to combating terrorism and enhancing national security.
