The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a shooting incident and the abduction of 10 residents in Isapa, a community near Obbo-Ile in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the incident occurred on Monday, November 24.
She said: “The command received a distress call at about 6:30 p.m on Monday, reporting sporadic gunshots within the community.
”Police operatives, including patrol teams and tactical units, were immediately deployed to the area.
”Preliminary investigations revealed that suspected herders stormed the village around 6:05 p.m., shooting indiscriminately. A woman was hit in the leg by a bullet but has since been treated and discharged.
”Further findings showed that the attackers abducted 10 persons during the assault.
”In response, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, visited Isapa for an on-the-spot assessment. He met with traditional rulers —the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, and the Olokesa of Okesa Land, Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun—as well as local and youth leaders.
”The Commissioner assured residents that the police would intensify operations to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims and restore security in the area.
”A massive search-and-rescue operation is currently underway, involving police tactical teams and local vigilante operatives combing the surrounding bushes to track the abductors.”
The police said normalcy has been restored to the community, while surveillance and monitoring efforts continue.
