World-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua (AJ), who was involved in a road accident on December 29, 2025, was on Wednesday, December 31, discharged from hospital where he was receiving medical attention.
Though heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends, AJ was deemed clinically fit to recuperate from home.
It will be recalled that Joshua’s two friends, Lateef Ayodele and Cina Gami, died in the accident which occurred on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Thenewsbearer learnt that Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as their bodies were being prepared to be taken back to their home country which was scheduled for same evening.
Commiserating with the families and loved ones of the deceased, the governments of Lagos and Ogun states, in a statement signed by the
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State, Gbenga Omotoso; and the Special Adviser, Information and Strategy
Ogun State, Kayode Akinmade, prayed that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the sad and painful loss.
“Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, deeply appreciate the public concern and show of love and affection over this very sad and unfortunate incident.
“They also appreciate Mr President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for all fatherly support he gave through out the process.
“We also want to appreciate the team of doctors and medical personnel at the Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, that attended to Anthony and those that sustained injuries.
“The quality of care and professionalism is truly commendable,” the statement further read.
