Yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Saturday, January 17, stormed Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, Oyo State, in a commando-style operation, killed a police officer and abducted a Indian expatriate.
This was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer in Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade.
According to the PPRO, the police officer was repelling the attack by the gunmen when he was hit, but also injured some of the assailants.
Ayanlade said that the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, who was immediately informed, has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations to lead the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and tactical teams to the scene.
“A bush-combing operation is ongoing, and a full investigation has been launched to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators,” police spokesman stated.
