A suspected member of an armed robbery gang, Alo Monday, has met his Waterloo, as he was arrested on Friday, November 20, 2020 by policemen from Ogun State Police Command.

after he and his gang members allegedly snatched a Toyota Camry car from their victim.
Disclosing this in statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that Monday, an Ebonyi State indigene, and other gang members at large, had dispossessed the owner of his car on Shagamu/Ikenne road.
Oyeyemi said that as the robbery was going on, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Shagamu Division, SP Okiki Agunbiade got a distress call at about 8:30 p, that armed robbers were operating on Shagamu/Ikenne road.
The PPRO stated: “Upon the distress call, the DPO mobilized his patrol team and moved to the scene. “On sighting the policemen, the robbers quickly jumped into an already-snatched unregistered Toyota Camry, popularly called ‘Muscle’, and started driving towards Lagos/Shagamu interchange.”
He stated further that the armed robbers were pursued by the policemen, which made them to abandon the car and run into a bush.
Cordoning the entire area, the police operatives combed the bush, searching for the gang members.
The PPRO said that the effort paid off when one of the robbers, Monday, was apprehended with a sledge hammer, which he allegedly used to hit the owner of the car on the head, before snatching the vehicle.
Thenewsbearer learnt further that the robbery incident, and the search by the police, drew the attention of youths and commercial motorcyclists in the area.
When apprehended by the police from the bush, an irate mob was said to have descended on the suspect, beating him.
He was however ferried from the place to the hospital by the police, in order to get him treated.
The owner of snatched car, who sustained head injury inflicted on him with the sledge hammer, was also taken to the hospital by the police, Oyeyemi added.
He said that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abeokuta, for discreet investigation.
Commending the quick response of his men to distress call, the police commissioner also directed that the police should carry a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang and bring them to justice within the shortest possible period.
