May 1, 2026: THE Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has received strong backing from the Oyo State Police Command for its ongoing enforcement activities, including the enforcement of a ban on animal rearing within police barracks.
According to a statement by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, this development was disclosed on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Chairperson of OYRLEA, Honourable Justice Aderonke Adekemi Aderemi (Rtd.), and her delegation to the Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
Justice Aderemi commended the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, for its continued collaboration and operational support, noting that the deployment of police personnel has significantly improved the effectiveness of enforcement operations across the state.
She further appealed for the deployment of additional officers to strengthen joint enforcement efforts as the scope of the Authority’s operations continues to expand.
The OYRLEA Chairperson emphasized the importance of sustained inter-agency cooperation in promoting the rule of law, ensuring environmental compliance, and enhancing public safety.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline, stressing that enforcement must begin within the ranks of security institutions.
He affirmed that the rearing of animals within police barracks would not be tolerated unless properly managed under strict conditions.
The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting OYRLEA’s intensified enforcement drive across the state and assured that the request for additional personnel would be given due consideration.
He noted that maintaining law and order remains a collective responsibility of all stakeholders.
The OYRLEA delegation included the Chairman of the Oyo State Environmental Taskforce, retired DCP Francis Ojomo, along with other members of the Authority’s management team.
The visit highlights the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening collaboration and enhancing effective law enforcement in Oyo State.
