President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Aina, who will turn 40 in July, is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University and is widely recognised for his expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional reform.
According to the statement, the new JAMB registrar holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent.
He also earned a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
The Presidency added that Aina completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School and has contributed significantly to reforms in examination administration and systems optimisation in Nigeria.
Before his appointment, Aina had built a career in academia and engineering, while also maintaining ties with examination management systems through earlier engagements with JAMB during his National Youth Service.
He is expected to officially assume office following the expiration of Oloyede’s tenure later this year.
