‎ ‎Tinubu appoints 39-year-old professor as new JAMB registrar

‎President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.

‎The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
‎
‎Aina, who will turn 40 in July, is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University and is widely recognised for his expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional reform.
‎
‎According to the statement, the new JAMB registrar holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent.
‎
‎ He also earned a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
‎
‎The Presidency added that Aina completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School and has contributed significantly to reforms in examination administration and systems optimisation in Nigeria.
‎
‎Before his appointment, Aina had built a career in academia and engineering, while also maintaining ties with examination management systems through earlier engagements with JAMB during his National Youth Service.
‎
‎He is expected to officially assume office following the expiration of Oloyede’s tenure later this year.
