The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, has ordered a discreet and comprehensive investigation into the killing of a farmer, Mr. Azeez Garba, whose body was discovered on his farmland along the Owa-Onire axis, the boundary between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the deceased left for his farm in the morning but did not return home, prompting relatives and local vigilantes to begin a search.
His motorcycle was later found parked on the farm, while his body was discovered a short distance away with deep machete wounds.
Condemning the murder as “cruel, senseless and unacceptable,” CP Adekimi directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to deploy all available investigative and intelligence resources to identify, track and arrest those responsible.
The police said no arrests had been made as of the time of the statement but assured the victim’s family and residents of Isin Local Government that all available leads were being actively pursued.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kwara State, stressing that it would not relent until those behind the killing are identified and brought to justice.
