Fidelity Bank Plc has promoted 433 employees in its 2026 Promotion and Notch Award Exercise, representing about 13 percent of the bank’s workforce.

The figure marks an increase from the 12 percent and 11 percent recorded in the 2025 and 2024 promotion exercises, when 376 and 337 employees were promoted respectively.

The bank said the exercise was part of its commitment to recognising excellence, rewarding outstanding performance and strengthening a performance-driven culture across the organisation.

Since the assumption of office of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Fidelity Bank has sustained annual promotion exercises aimed at recognising employee contributions, strengthening institutional capacity and developing a pipeline of future leaders.

Beyond promotions, the bank said it has continued to invest in employee welfare and professional development through measures designed to improve productivity, workplace satisfaction and staff wellbeing.

According to the bank, salaries across all categories and grade levels were increased in 2022, 2024 and 2025, while staff buses were deployed to ease commuting. It also enhanced medical support and expanded learning and development programmes.

Fidelity Bank further said it had extended its mortgage loan and home ownership scheme to employees from Assistant Banking Executive to Deputy Manager cadres, while increasing applicable mortgage limits for qualified staff in line with current market realities.

The bank said the initiative makes it one of the few financial institutions in Nigeria offering mortgage support to employees below the manager cadre.

It added that other initiatives had been sustained to promote employee engagement, collaboration, work-life balance, professional certification and continuous upskilling.

The 2026 promotion exercise, Fidelity Bank said, forms part of its broader people strategy to attract, develop, reward and retain talent by recognising discipline, professionalism, innovation, customer focus and sustained performance.

The bank said the strategy was also aimed at preparing employees for greater responsibilities and strengthening its position as an employer of choice in Nigeria’s financial services industry.

Fidelity Bank, a full-fledged commercial deposit money bank, serves more than 10 million customers through digital banking channels and 255 business offices in Nigeria, as well as its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.

The bank has received several local and international recognitions, including the 2025 Development Bank of Nigeria Innovation Award for MSME support, Best Retail and SME Bank Award by Independent Newspapers, Best Bank for Export and Trade Finance and Most Innovative Bank of the Year at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Financial Institutions Awards.

It was also named Nigeria’s Best Private Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards and received the inaugural Most Improved Commercial Bank of the Year award by Nairametrics, SME Bank of the Year by NewsDirect and the Straight-Through Processing Excellence Award by Citi Group.
