The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has pledged to sustain teachers’ welfare, career progression and professional development under his proposed Omituntun 3.0 administration.
Adekanmbi made the pledge in a statement signed by the Director of Communication/Spokesperson of the Oyo State APM Governorship Campaign Council, Yinka Oladoyinbo, to commemorate the 2026 Teachers’ Day.
He described teachers as nation builders whose dedication to nurturing young minds remains critical to the development of society, stressing that no nation can rise above the quality of its teachers.
Adekanmbi commended teachers in Oyo State for their commitment and professionalism, noting that their contributions had helped improve the state’s educational standards.
He said Oyo State’s reported third-place ranking nationwide in recent National Examinations Council (NECO) performance metrics reflected the dedication and cooperation of teachers.
The APM candidate pledged to build on the foundation laid by Governor Seyi Makinde by sustaining prompt payment of teachers’ salaries, including payment on the 25th of every month, popularly known as “GSM Day.”
He also promised to maintain the 27.5 per cent teaching allowance, leave bonuses and 13th-month salary bonuses, while ensuring the continued promotion and upgrading of teachers in line with global standards.
Adekanmbi further pledged to expand leadership opportunities for educators, including appointments as Permanent Secretaries, Tutors General and Inspectors General.
He said his administration would introduce additional reforms to empower teachers and further improve the education sector.
“Teachers are the architects of Oyo State’s future, and under Omituntun 3.0, they will continue to receive the respect, support, and opportunities they deserve,” he said.
