The Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo, has promised improved welfare for teachers, full implementation of the minimum wage and regular payment of running costs to public secondary schools if elected governor in 2027.
Titilola-Sodo, a former labour leader, also pledged to ensure that schools have adequate funds to procure instructional materials and implement programmes aimed at improving teaching and learning across the state.
He made the pledge in a statement issued by his Media Team on Monday to commemorate the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, describing teachers as critical builders of the nation whose contributions to the development of Nigeria cannot be overemphasised.
The AA candidate said teachers occupy a special place in society because of their role in shaping the minds, character and future of young Nigerians.
He commended teachers for their dedication to duty despite the challenges confronting the education sector, noting that their contributions often extend beyond the confines of the classroom.
Titilola-Sodo said he was aware of the challenges facing teachers in Oyo State, assuring them that his administration would build on his previous contributions to workers’ welfare if given the mandate to govern the state.
According to him, his past interventions included efforts towards clearing backlogged salaries and pensions, prioritising workers’ welfare and engaging education stakeholders to improve the learning environment for pupils and students.
He congratulated teachers on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day and assured them that education would remain a priority under his administration.
Titilola-Sodo also called for greater support for teachers and sustained investment in the education sector, stressing that every child, irrespective of family background, deserves access to quality education and an opportunity to build a better future.
