The woman reportedly diagnosed with Ebola virus in Nigeria has been evacuated from the country by air ambulance, according to a report by ARISE News.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the evacuation reportedly took place early on Monday, October 26, through the private jet wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
ARISE News said it received a tip that the woman, identified in the report as the wife of a Swiss diplomat in Nigeria, would be flown out of the country at about 6 a.m. aboard a medical evacuation aircraft already stationed at the airport.
The news organisation subsequently observed a convoy of ambulances and diplomatic vehicles arriving at the airport’s private aviation section.
According to the report, airport officials cordoned off the area, but ARISE News later obtained video footage showing a medical evacuation aircraft and its crew preparing to transport the passenger.
The report said the special nature of the operation raised suspicions that the passenger was the reported Ebola index case.
It was further reported that the Federal Government intended to announce the medical evacuation after the aircraft had taken off and left Nigerian airspace.
However, the reported diagnosis and evacuation have not been independently confirmed in the information available, and no official statement was included in the report to establish the patient’s condition or destination.
