THE South-West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) will on Friday, February 19, 2021, begin its two-day workshop for members in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The workshop will hold at the Ilaji Hotels and Resort, Akanran, in the state capital.
According to the Public Relations Officer of SWEGOP, Mr Remi Oladoye, the workshop was organised to promote professionalism and uphold the ethics of journalism.
He said that speakers from the academia, legal, marketing and media world are expected to speak on different topics.
“The two-day workshop was put together by the association to promote professionalism and uphold the ethics of journalism.
“Having observed the misrepresentation, misinterpretation and unethical conduct in the media space, the association decided to remind its members of our main purpose in the society.
“We have invited numerous speakers from the academia, legal, marketing and media to speak with members on different topics given,” he said.
SWEGOP is made up of online publishers in Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti states who came together with the aim of promoting professionalism through self-regulation and providing a wider reach through multiple professionally managed online media outfits.
Presently, the association has over 50 publishers as members across the region as it looks forward to bringing more professional publishers on board so as to get rid of vices ascribed to online news dissemination as we as uphold professionalism.
