Two armed robbery suspects have been arrested by Osun State Police Comand after robbing bus passengers at Ile-Ife/Osu intersection, along Ibadan-Ilesa highway and trying to use victim’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card in a bank.
The suspects were identified as Abiodun Abdulahi (35) and Godwin John (19).
John, an indigene of Imo State, resides in Lagos State, while carrying out robbery operations in Osun.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on Friday, May 21, 2021, at about 12 noon in Ile-Ife by policemen.
The two suspects and other gang members currently at large were said to have robbed the passengers who were coming from Lagos in a bus, and were heading towards Ilesa at about 9:45a.m., and dispossessed them of their
valuables before escaping.
The PPRO said that the tide turned against the suspects when the driver of the bus went to block his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card at one of the new generation banks in Ile-Ife and suddenly saw and identified the two of their attackers.
Opalola stated further that the police were quickly alerted, leading to their arrest.
“They have confessed to the crime. Effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members,” Opalola said.
