In its ongoing search-and-rescue operations, the Zamfara State Police Command across the state has succeeded in rescuing 11 victims that were abducted on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Mohammed Shehu, in a statement on Wednesday, August 18, the abduction of 11 persons by some group of hoodlums suspected to be bandits at Yarkofoji Village in Bakura Local Government Area.
Also, the command rescued Chief Security Officer of the College of Health Technology, Tsafe.
His abduction had been initially reported to the police after it occurred in the early hours of August 18, when a gang of hoodlums went to his house at about 12:40am and abducted him.
The PPRO said that the police search-and-rescue team had swung into action by combing the surrounding forest, which led to the rescue of the victim.
He attributed the successful rescue of the abducted victims without any ransom paid by the relations of the victims to the search-and-rescue strategies employed by the Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana.
Congratulating the victims for regaining their freedom, the Commissioner of Police urged them to always be conscious of their security and report any suspicious person to the police or any nearest security outfit for prompt response.
Saying that all the victims had been taken to the hospital for medical checkup and reunited with their families, Elkana assured the people of the state about the ongoing efforts of the command to rescue other victims currently in captivity, so that lives and property could be adequately protected.
