A 61-year-old Italian, Mr Pierangelo Pellizzar, has murdered his Nigerian wife, Amenze Rita, aged 31, by firing shots at her in his country.
The killing by the husband was linked with the wife’s move of filing for a divorce.
It was reported that Rita’s file for divorce had angered her husband who became also embittered enough to carry out the dastardly act.
Rita was reportedly killed in front of her colleagues in the parking lot of Mf Mushroom, a company where she worked on Friday morning, in Noventa Vicentina.
It was gathered that the suspect, Pellizzar waylaid his estranged housewife at about 7:30am and shot her four times, until life had gone out of her.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Italy, Mfawa Omini Abam, the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as well as the Nigerian Community in Italy, have however demanded full investigation into the killing
The Head, Media and Public Relations,
NIDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, September 12, 2021, disclosed that Hon. Dabiri-Erewa, while giving an update on the event, stated that the estranged husband, Mr Pellizzar, had been arrested.
In the statement, Dabiri-Erewa said that the alleged killing of the housewife by her husband as a result of filing for a divorce was unfortunate and sad.
Similarly, the President of National Union of Nigerian Associations in Italy (NUNAI), Mr Rowland Ndukuba, also condemned the killing and thanked the police authorities for the arrest of the husband.
The Nigerian Ambassador, Abam, who had been informed about the death of the Nigerian, had promised that the Embassy would ensure that proper investigation would be carried out.
