A 47-year-old Chinese national, Geng Quanrong, has been arrested by detectives in Kano State Police Command for stabbing his girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani, aged 22, to death.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who spoke on the arrest on Saturday, September 17, 2022, said that a report was received from Janbulo Quarters on Friday, September 16 at about 10pm that the Chinese National, of Nassarawa GRA Quarters, had a misunderstanding with the lady at her residence when he went there.
The report added that he attacked her with a sharp knife, inflicting deep cut on her neck and some other parts of her body.
“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Abubakar Lawal, mobilised a team of policemen, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Dorayi Babba Division, SP Ibrahim Hammer, to the scene.
“The victim was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a medical doctor confirmed her dead.
“The suspect was immediately arrested,” the PPRO said.
Kiyawa stated further that the Commissioner of Police had directed that case be transferred to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, for discreet investigation.
