Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Olawale Olokode, has ordered a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government in Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas, should be enforced by the Area Commander and Divisional Police Officers within the Area of Responsibility (AOR), with immediate effect.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, on behalf the police commissioner, the order became imperative in order to restore peace and calm in the areas.
It will be recalled that the state government had declared the 24-hour curfew, following the violence that broke out between Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities on Saturday.
Olokode beseeched the indigenes and residents of the affected Local Government Areas to comply with the directive of the government, which has been imposed until further notice.
The police commissioner however warned that anyone found violating the curfew, as well as those responsible for the violence, would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“The Commissioner of Police also enjoins all the good citizens of the state to be peaceful and law-abiding, as all efforts will be made to protect lives and property within the state,” Opalola added.
