Four suspected armed robbers have been arrested by police operatives attached to Alakuko Division of Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with some community members.

The suspects were identified as Suleiman Babajide (26), Mustapha Michael (25), Daniel Gideon (24), and Olalekan Adesina (26).

Thenewsbearer learnt that the arrest was made on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at about 12 midnight.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 25, the state police spokesman, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the suspects had been terrorising residents of AMJE Bus Stop, Ajegunle, Masalasi and Dalemo communities at Alakuko Area of the state, and dispossessing them of their belongings.

“One locally-made pistol with four live cartridges was recovered from them,” he stated.

Adejobi said that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered that the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for investigation.

He added that the police commissioner also charged other police stations and operatives in the command to make sure that the state would not be a safe haven for criminals and miscreants, particularly during the ember months.

Meanwhile, Odumosu had an interactive session with police Inspectors and those in rank and file cadre of the command, with a view to improving security in the state.

At a conference held at the POWA Hall, Oduduwa, GRA, Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police had engaged hundreds of police personnel in interaction, in order to finetune a way forward on policing the state.

The police boss had charged them to brace up and discharge their duties without fear, favour and sentiments, as the laws are explicit on the duties of the police.

Odumosu said: “We must rise up to the security challenges in the state and continue to curtail them appropriately, in as much as the Nigeria Police reigns”.

The parley was witnessed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Mohammed Ali; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Etim Oqua, ACP Dotun Odubona; ACP Wale Ajao, second-in-command to the Commander Rapid Response Squad, DCP Tunji Disu and staff officers from the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
