Lagos still ahead in COVID-19 infections in Nigeria, as NCDC confirms 685 new cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has posted its daily update on corona virus infection in Nigeria, with 685 new confirmed cases.

It was indicated that Lagos State is still leading in the number of people who are COVID-19 positive, with 355 cases.

NCDC made the announcement on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in a tweet on its official Twitter account.

Lagos is followed by Kaduna State, with 58 cases.

Other states are Nasarawa, 46; Kano, 40; Akwa Ibom, 33; Katsina,26; Ogun, 25; Osun, 21; Rivers, 16; Edo, 15; Oyo, 13; Ondo, 12; Borno, 11; Ekiti, nine; Kebbi, three and Plateau, two.

While a total of 131,242 were confirmed by NCDC, it said that there had been 1,586 deaths, and 104,989 discharged.

NCDC further said that discharges on Sunday included 901 community recoveries in Lagos State and 123 community recoveries in Plateau State, which were managed in line with guidelines.
