In its continued effort to enforce traffic laws within the metropolis, the Lagos State Taskforce has impounded 115 motorcycles from operators who are persistently violating the ban on certain routes, highways and bridges across the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 23, the Taskforce spokesman, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, said that the Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, disclosed that the latest enforcement operations were carried out in key areas such as LASU First Gate, Ipaja Gate, Governor’s Road, Igando axis, and Dopemu, where motorcycle operators were found flouting the state traffic regulations.

In collaboration with other security outfits, the Taskforce has vowed to maintain its zero confidence btolerance approach to violations on these restricted routes.

“The ban on placed on okada operations in certain areas was put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all Lagosians, and we will not tolerate any breach of this order.

“Those who continue to operate in restricted areas endangering the lives of road users and will face the full wrath of the law,” Akerele stated.

He noted that despite repeated warnings and sensitisation efforts, some operators had remained defiant, thereby endangering public safety.

The 115 motorcycles impounded during the latest operation had been confiscated, while legal action would be taken against the violators, CSP Akerele said.

The Chairman reiterated the state government commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents as spelt out in the THEMES PLUS Agenda.

He urged Okada operators to adhere strictly to the laws governing their operations.

He also called on members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers by reporting violations and desist from patronising such okada operators for their own safety.

The Chairman assured that the Lagos State Taskforce will continue its patrols and enforcement activities across the state, particularly in areas that are prone to illegal okada operations.
