A man, David Idibie, has landed in police net in Lagos State Police Command, in connection with the death of his wife, Juliana (42), on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at about 10p.m.
Idibie, of Joado Street, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah Area of the state, and his wife were said to have had matrimonial disagreements, which led to an argument, the state police spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed in statement on Wednesday, February 17.
During the altercation, the PPRO stated, the wife had slumped, sustaining severe head injury.
Adejobi said that despite being in pains, and lying on the ground with her bloody head, the woman’s husband, still visibly angry, refused to come to her aid, until she gave up the ghost.
When a neighbour informed the police about the incident, operatives attached to Langbasa Division, Ajah, raced to the scene, arrested the suspect and evacuated the corpse of his wife to the mortuary, the PPRO added.
He stated further that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu condemned the act, promising to work with other relevant government agencies and non-governmental bodies to tackle domestic violence to a standstill in the state.
The state police boss also ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation.
Reiterating his zero tolerance for crimes and criminality, especially domestic violence, Odumosu advised couples to always resolve their differences and conflicts with decorum and maturity, as the law would not spare anyone killing their spouses.
Odumosu also commiserated with the family and friends of the deceased over her untimely death, as he said his command would ensure that justice is done on the case.
