He was said to have immediately rushed her to a hospital for treatment, but the girlfriend succumbed to death on Saturday, November 21, at about 12 noon, as a result of third degree burns she sustained.
Thenewsbearer learnt that Mohammed had accused his former lover of infidelity before they broke up, and later met and fell in love with Rabi that was caught up in the inferno.
The PPRO said that Ibrahim was accompanied by her friend, Mohammed, to commit the act.
Adejobi stated further that the two suspects were apprehended by police operatives attached to Satellite Division of the command.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for discreet investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, who condemned the act, also vowed to go after those who engage in crime and social vices, to rid the state of criminality.
