A popular Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James, also known as ‘Baba Ijesa’, has been arrested by Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a minor, 14-year-old girl (names withheld), which started since she was aged seven.
The arrest was made known by the state police spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued on Thursday, April 22, 2021.
According to Adejobi, a defilement case was reported reported at Sabo Police Station on Monday, April 19, by one Princess Adekola Adekanya, before its transfer to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation.
Thenewsbearer learnt that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect started assaulting the now 14-year-old girl sexually since she was seven years old.
The PPRO stated further that when the actor was interrogated, he confessed to the crime, which, unknown to him, had been captured by a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera in the house of the complainant.
Adejobi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered for proper investigation, promising to do justice to the matter.
