Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has said that his command has put in place adequate security mechanisms to ensure that this year’s Eid-el-Fitri celebration and the holidays slated for May 12 and 13, 2021 are celebrated peacefully without any hitch.

Making this known in a statement, the police spokeswoman in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola said that the Commissioner of Police also assured the people of the state and all commuters of the readiness of the police command to guarantee safety of lives and property in all parts of the state during this period and beyond.

Olokode, who promised adequate visibility policing and constant vehicular patrols, appealed to members of the public to cooperate and collaborate with police personnel deployed for the assignment and vehicles on patrol duty, put in place to curb any act of crime and criminality.

“He enjoined members of the public to comport themselves within the ambit of the law, as police personnel have been lectured to be civil, exhibit a high level of professionalism and deployed for the special duties at the mosques, Eid praying grounds, recreation and shopping centres, as well as strategic points, to nip in the bud all the criminal activities that might arise.

“More so, they should be vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement or infraction of the law to the police for immediate action through 08039537995 and 08123823981,” Opalola further stated.

The state police boss also advised the Muslim faithful and other well wishers to observe the COVID-19 protocols as they celebrate the festival, just as he wished them a joyous and peaceful celebration.
