A suspected motorcycle thief was on Friday morning burnt to death at 110 area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

It was gathered that the suspect had snatched a motorcycle and killed the owner at Olomi area, and he was chased to 110 area, where he was set ablaze.

The burnt body of the suspect was still lying by the roadside as of 11:00 a.m.M

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, in a statement, condemned the jungle justice meted on the suspect.

Fadeyi, who said carrying out jungle justice was now becoming common among okada riders, warned that the police would no longer tolerate the act.

Fadeyi said the state’s Commissioner of Police, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, had recently warned against jungle justice, adding that it would make situation degenerate beyond control.

“Suspect(s) are supposed to be handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution to allow dignity in our society,” Fadeyi said.
