An attack by about 30 terrorists was halted on September 14, 2022, as police operatives killed one of them in a gun duel.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed this, said that the gun duel followed a report that the terrorists, armed with AK-47 rifles and with motorcycles, had blocked Sabuwa-Mararaba Yakawada Road, in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state, to carry out armed robbery and kidnap operations.
“On receipt of the report, Divisional Police Officer, Sabuwa Division, led tactical unit to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel. The team successfully repelled the terrorists from their heinous mission,” the PPRO stated.
He added that in the course of checking around the scene, a terrorist was found to have died during the gun duel, while an AK-47 rifle and four of the terrorists’ operational motorcycles were recovered.
Isah said it was believed that many of the terrorists escaped from the scene with gunshot wounds, adding that investigation is ongoing.
