Eight victims who were abducted on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, have been rescued unconditionally by the Zamfara State Police Command.
The abduction had occurred at Kangon Sabuwa in Bungudu Local Government Area before the release was secured for them.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Mohammed Shehu, in a statement on Monday, August 30, the victims were taken to Kungurmi bandits Camp before they were rescued safely by the police without payment of any ransom.
He said: “The abducted victims were checked by the medical officials, debriefed by the police and reunited with their families.”
The PPRO stated further that the Commissioner of Police, Ayuba N. Elkana had assured the people of the state that the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, was intensifying various search and rescue strategies that would lead to the rescue of other victims.
The Commissioner of Police, he also said, called on members of the public to further cooperate and collaborate with the police and other security agencies in an effort to restore lasting peace and security in the state.
