Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, has said 10 people people were killed and 47 injured on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 when Boko Haram members attacked Maiduguri, the state capital with rockets.
Over 40 people were taken to hospital after sustaining injuries from the attacks.
Zulum gave the confirmation when he visited the injured at the State Specialist Hospital and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.
During the attack, the major casualties were recorded at a football field in Gwange near the house of late General Mamman Shuwa, where nine boys were killed.
The Adam Kolo part of Maiduguri, which is near the Shehu of Borno’s palace, was not spared as the insurgents fired the rockets which led to the death of four persons.
The Newsbearer gathered that the terrorists fired 10 rockets into the heart of Maiduguri.
The terrorists tried to capitalize on the confusion to invade the city but fighter jets and helicopter gunships were scrambled into the air and surface troops stood their ground to repel the attacks.
Meanwhile, a team of military, civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) have condoned the affected areas in order to prevent another attack and protect the humanitarian workers at the scene.
