Operatives of Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps codenamed So-Safe have arrested a 38-year-old man, Mathew Ifeanyi, for allegedly killing his biological father with a machete at Ijoko in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area.
The So-Safe Commander, (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, in a statement by the spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, said that on Tuesday, August 29, information got to Superintendent Alabi Gafar, the Divisional Officer of the Corps at Alade/Atago/Ntabo Divisional Command that a man was attacking his father with cutlass at 11, Ibikunle Street, Diamond Estate, along Olorunda Area, Eruobodo Ntabo, Ijoko.
According to Ganzallo, a patrol team was directed to rescue the helpless father, identified as Anthony Nnadike, aged 100, and get the son arrested.
On getting to the scene, the team saw that victim, who was in a critical condition, had been rushed to the nearest general hospital due to the injury sustained.
A medical doctor, on examination of the injured father, however confirmed him dead.
Ganzallo that the killer resisted an arrest until he was subdued and taken into custody.
Thenewsbearer learnt that that during preliminary investigation into what prompted the son’s criminal act, he said that his father refused to refund the N70,000 he entrusted in his hands since July 22.
The suspect said that he took the action because he had resigned from his previous job to embark on his private business, but his father didn’t give him the money kept with him.
The commander said that the suspect had been transfered to Sango Division of Ogun State Police Command for further investigation.
