In preparation for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the University of Ibadan, tagged “UI@75”, this year, (1948-2023), the university management has inaugurated a high-level committee to plan, coordinate and execute various activities to mark the milestone event.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, said that the committee was inaugurated early because of the special nature of the event, and to give it enough time to prepare for the events to celebrate the anniversary billed to come up later in the year.
Professor Adebowale expressed his confidence in the committee noting that the members are people of adequate experience that will add value to the given task and charged them to start in earnest.
According to the VC, the task of the committee will involve fund raising amongst others.
He thereafter announced Prof. Peter Olamakinde Olapegba, a member of the University Governing Council, and the Director of the University Alumni Office, as the Chairman/Convener of the Committee.
Prof. Adebowale charged the committee to fully engage the alumni community of the University of Ibadan and ensure that a befitting 75th anniversary is put together for the university.
The Chairman/Convener, UI@75 Committee, Prof. Olapegba thanked the university management for the confidence reposed in him, and promised to put his best in discharging the enormous task ahead.
