The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Abayomi Oladipo, has ordered the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case of the death of a socialite and petrol station owner, Mr Sesan Adelabu, popularly known as Emirate, and his wife, Bolu.
The couple were found dead in their room, with the wife’s still body on the bed, while that of the husband was discovered in the toilet. An empty bottle of insecticide called Sniper was found in the room.
It was believed that the husband must have killed his wife, after he drank the insecticide, thereby committing suicide.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the police got information about the couple’s death on Friday, February 9, when a distress call was received by men of Special Protection Unit in A’ Division, Akure.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed the story, said that the officer attached to Adelabu in his house at Alagbaka area in Akure, received a call from the deceased’s child around 6pm, who asked for his father, as he was not picking his calls.
The policeman was said to have gone to his principal to inform him of his child’s need to speak to him, but was shocked when he discovered him lying face down and lifeless in the toilet in his room.
His wife’s body was also found on the bed with multiple cuts, suspected to be from a machete, on her head and face.
An empty container of an insecticide was also found at the scene.
The PPRO said: “Investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident and the scene cordoned to enable police do the needful.”
