A 27-year-old man, Toriola Tobi, was on Monday, February 19, murdered by unknown persons at about 7pm on a street at Isokan Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Though the details were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, it was learnt from some eyewitnesses that the murder victim was walking alone along a secluded street in Isokan Estate, behind Premier Grammar School area, when he was attacked.
After Tobi was fatally injured, his attackers reportedly escaped from the scene.
Confirming the story, the police spokeswoman in Ogun State Command, SP Omolola Odutola, said that when the Divisional Police Officer, Ilupeju Division, Sabo, received the information, he immediately sent detectives to the scene of murder where they saw the lifeless body of Tobi.
The PPRO stated that his remains had been deposited in the morgue, for autopsy.
She added that an investigation had commenced into the murder, and the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Mustapha Alamutu, had directed that every intelligence be deployed to ensure the fleeing suspects are apprehended.
The Commissioner of Police also called for the cooperation of members of the public to volunteer credible information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
