Six passengers lost their lives on Friday, August 30, following an accident involving a Toyota Sienna Space bus and a truck at Verony, Ogere, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The deceased included four females and two males, while three females were injured.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the ash colour Toyota Sienna vehicle with registration number EPE 692 EL rammed into a truck on motion, leading to the death of some of its occupants.
The truck, which did not stop after the crash, could not be identified, it was gathered.
The Ogere Unit Comand of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reportedly arrived at the accident scene for a rescue operation at about 7:40am, Thenewsbearer further learnt.
According to the Public Education Officer of the FRSC Unit Command, Florence Okpe, who spoke on behalf of the Ogun State Sector Commander, the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, while the corpses were deposited at FOS Ipara morgue.
“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the driver of the Sienna Space Bus who rammed into a moving truck from the rear. The truck did not wait after the incident.
“The Sector Commander, Ogun Sector Command, Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as an avoidable act if proper caution was fully put in place by the driver.
“He urged motorists to ensure they give maximum concentration to driving, as it is an act that requires such, and obey all traffic rules while driving on the highway.
“He further commiserates with the families of the crash victims and wishes the injured victims quick recovery,” Okpe, a Chief Route Commander, stated.
