Nigerians have been called upon to make right choice politically, economically, in their marriages and career wise in order to avoid regrets.

The provost of the Cathedral of St. Peter’s Church, Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo State, Very Reverend Samuel Kayode Olawoyin made the call in his sermon during the service at the thanksgiving service by the women local conference at the Cathedral on Sunday, September 8.

The conference was themed: “And The Lord Remembered Me,” taken from 1st Samuel 1:19.

In a statement by the Diocesan Communicator, Comrade Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade, Reverend Olawoyin disclosed that some people choose to be rich while some choose to be poor, depending on their determination, focus, belief and mind set.

According to the provost, “in whatever situation we find ourselves, we should be our brother’s and sister’s keeper, as fingers are not equal; and should note that no condition is permanent.”

Quoting from Mark 14:7, the preacher said: “For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me.”

He enjoined the congregation, especially the rich and influential, to remember the poor in their midst by showing them love, mercy and assistance whenever the need arises.

Earlier in her address at the conference, the branch chairperson, Dr (Mrs) Omolola Olawoyin appreciated the unprecedented achievements of the Oyo State Governor, Engr ‘Seyi Abiodun Makinde, for taking Oyo State to a greater height, and for his love for indigenes and residents of Oyo State.

Dr Olawoyin appealed to the governor to ensure reduction in the prices of food commodities by taking meaningful steps as done by the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ogunwusi Enitan and Ewi of Ado-Ekiti in their domains recently.

She prayed that the name Nigeria “neglect”  be called “Beulah,” meaning “loved nation.”

She also rejoiced with President Bola Tinubu for becoming the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after struggles, supplications and expenses, while appreciating his efforts in improving  the present difficult situations.

She urged President Tinubu not to forget his electioneering campaign promises of provision of food, security, quality education, adequate health facilities, infrastructural facilities, cheap transportation and security of lives and property, among others, which are not what Nigerians are currently experiencing.

The chairperson specifically spoke on incessant fuel pump price increase, increase in prices of food items and insecurity, among others.

“It is high time President Tinubu retraced his steps and did away with policies contributing to the hardship being experienced presently.

“We are hungry, suffering and in distress,” she said, urging the president to assemble intelligent people and technocrats to assist him in moving Nigeria forward.
